Ridgeback MX16 Childrens Bike, 2011 The MX16 is designed for kids of around 4-6 years of age, and with the mountain bike styling and rugged construction it's unmistakably aimed at boys. Built around a 6061 aluminium frame with 16" alloy wheels the MX16 is the perfect single speed choice for those who've outgrown stabilisers but don't need the worry of having to change gear. The great thing about Ridgeback kids bikes is the way they use a quality grade aluminium tubing for the frame. A lot of brands still make their smaller children's bicycles out of steel, which works fine but is much heavier and prone to rust. A light weight bike is easier for a little rider to handle, so is safer, and if any bike is going to be left out in the rain or not cleaned after it gets muddy it will be a toddler's bike, so steel is best avoided if possible. Adjusting the MX16 is easy - only an Allen key is needed to set the bar/seat height, and the low maintenence V-brakes and single speed gearing will make the MX16 a hit with parents as well as kids.
